What is laminate made of?
Laminate is made from digital images that are printed on paper. The paper is then laid over layers of Kraft paper sheets, which are impregnated with phenolic resin, and bonded together. Have a look at high-pressure laminate on our products page for more detailed processing information
Will my benchtops have joins?
How many joins your benchtop has, and where they are, depend on the benchtop layout, the size and the fabrication limitations, like the sheet size of the laminate. You’ll find any joins in your benchtop will be unobtrusive.
How do I clean my benchtop surface?
Just give the surface a quick wipe with a damp sponge and mild detergent or an all-purpose cleaner then rinse with clean water.
For problem spots, scrub gently with a soft brush (like a toothbrush) and a very mild abrasive such as toothpaste or a paste of baking soda and water.
How do I get a quote for my new benchtop?
Go to our Get a Quote page and send us photos of your current benchtop and a sketch of the benchtop you’re after along with approximate sizes. We will then send you our pricing as a basis to help you make your decision. Of course, once you receive our quote, get in touch with us to go over any queries you may have or any options you want to discuss.
What is the lead-time for a new benchtop?
Our lead-time starts once an order is confirmed and your deposit has been paid. Factory pick-up and delivered benchtops can be completed sooner. If installation is required, the lead-time may be extended to adjust for our installation schedule. It is best to discuss your requirements with our team. Note that lead-times vary and can be affected by our suppliers.
What if I'm not confident about the measurements I’ve provided for my benchtop?
For our initial pricing of your new benchtop, all we need are approximate measurements. Make sure to send us photos of your existing benchtop as well. Measure the longest sides of each bench piece, the depth, and also the benchtop thickness.
If our pricing is acceptable, and depending on the options you choose, we can then include our digital template service to ensure the perfect fit with precise measurements.
How can I get started?
Use our Get a Quote page to send us your benchtop measurements and photos. Next, choose your colour, finish, and any appliances or accessories you require. We will advise you of the deposit amount required to confirm your acceptance of our quote.
Once the deposit is received, we will arrange a date for you to collect your benchtops, or set up a date to install your benchtop.
How thick can my custom benchtop be?
The standard thickness of a custom laminate benchtop is 31mm - 36mm, but we can custom build your benchtop up to 60mm.
Are my laminate benchtops heat resistant?
NO - Do not ever place hot items on your benchtop, as this will cause blistering and burn marks.
What are the advantages of laminate benchtops?
A laminated benchtop will give you greater design flexibility and will be guaranteed to be durable, easily maintained and great value.
How long are quotes valid?
Our quotes remain valid for 60 days.
How long will the installer take to replace my benchtop?
Most installations are easily completed within one day.

We can also help you with benchtops for your laundry, office or workshop – anywhere you require a laminated surface.
Can Benchtops Direct take care of the installation for me?
Yes. We can take the hassle out of the installation process for you by using our own installers. You would just need to coordinate your plumber, gas-fitter, or electrician around our installation visit.
What do I do with my old benchtop?
Our installer can remove and dispose of your old benchtops.
What if I have trouble choosing a colour?
We are happy to help or can suggest appropriate colour consultants to help you achieve the best look.
Can I arrange my own installation?
Yes. You can arrange to pick up your benchtops direct from our factory in Drury, or for a fee, we can deliver them to site for you.
